The intention of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) to modify the Constitution by means of a referendum and the statement according to which the current Parliament will work till the end of the mandate is an act of power encroachment in the Republic of Moldova.
This is the opinion of the communist MP, Vadim Misin, one of PCRM leaders, quoted by DECA-press Agency.
According to Misin, AEI violates the Constitution and the recommendations of the Venice Committee.
Communists believe although the Constitution is changed, parliamentary elections will be held.
„The provisions of the new Constitution may be in force for the future legislative forum. We are ready to negotiate the procedure of election of head of state”, Misin said. He specified “PCRM will announce the Venice Committee, as well as European institutions”.
On Tuesday evening, the four leaders of AEI stated they had agreed on amendments to the Constitution. The Constitution will be changed through a referendum. Thus, anticipated parliamentary elections will be avoided. The referendum is to be held no later than June 16. |
