The decision of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) to organize a referendum on amendments to the Constitution without dissolving the Parliament, violates the legislation, Bogdan Tardea, political analyst, said.
According to him, Republic of Moldova risks having a direct conflict with the Council of Europe and the Venice Committee that expressed its opinion about some possible consequences of the event.
„This decision is suspicious from the other point of view too. So far, Marian Lupu and Vlad Filat, Vitalie Nagacevschi and Alexandru Tanase stated the anticipated elections could not be avoided. Now, under the pressure of PL and MAN, that have low rating, they had to give up in order to preserve the AEI, but they gave up legislation and its supremacy”, Tardea said.
On the other hand, the political analyst Igor Munteanu, director of IDIS „Viitorul”, said the decision to organize a referendum in term of making amendments to the Constitution “has tested the unity of the Alliance, and has cancelled the Party’s of Communists dream to revenge this year”.
As for PCRM’s statement regarding its intention to boycott the meetings of the Legislative, Munteanu says the activity of the Parliament will not be jeopardized, for the alliance does not have enough votes to adopt an organic law.
The leaders of AEI agreed on the amendment to the Constitution by means of a referendum. They are certain of the fact there will be no anticipated elections and the current Parliament will execute its mandate till the end. The referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution will be organized no later than June 16. |
